An international team led by the Spanish National Research Council has discovered a series of fish traps including nets, hooks, harpoons and other artifacts relating to a fishing industry occurring in the Dubna river basin near Moscow some 7500 years ago.
The sites are remarkable because of the degree of the preservation of organic materials found. Dr. Ignacio Clemente the archaeologist tells that the people of the area were hunter gatherers who among hunting and fishing were also collecting wild berries.
