Christoph Bull that is.

Yesterday afternoon Shirley and I had the privilege of attending a Christoph Bull organ recital. Bull's work at the organ is simply the best I have ever heard. Bull not only delighted us with the work of Bruhns, Bach, and Couperin, he presented several of his own amazing compositions. He closed the scheduled program with his “Beethoven-Improvisation.” Wonderful!

The picture is of Bull on the bench of the Disney Hall organ in Los Angeles. Yesterday, he played the Hill Memorial Organ in Pomona College’s Bridges Hall of Music (Fisk opus 117). I’ve written about this wonderful instrument before. We’ve attended several exciting concerts that featured this organ but none quite as exciting as yesterday afternoon’s concert. If you have an opportunity to hear Christoph Bull in concert, take it.
