Dr. Elisha Dumser of Ursuline College, Ohio will give twolectures on the classical past of Greeceand Rome. In her day talk, Dr. Dumser will speak aboutthe prominent role of women in the Panathenaic Procession, the great parade andsacrifice put on in Athens incelebration of Athena’s birthday. In theevening, she will explore the building program of the Emperor Maxentius (306-312CE), his quest for legitimacy and for restoration of the greatness of theEmpire. Her publications include Mapping Augustan Rome (2002), the first period-specific map of the ancient city.
